Painting

Everything inspires me. You could say my work is a fusion of abstract realism. I have been drawing, sketching, creating and now painting my whole life. My paintings are predominately acrylic, although I often work in mixed media, fusing many different elements.

Photography

I am intrigued by the way light hits things…the angles in architecture, natural elements, and the textures that dance between them. I was inspired at a young age by a friend of my moms who was a photographer. For my 40th birthday, I bought myself a Nikon D5000, with recording capability. Best investment ever!

Creative Writing & Poetry

I have been writing in some form, for most of my life. Grateful to a teacher in the 9th grade who assigned us the task of 10 poems, which forever inspired my love of poetry.

Longing. July 2014

Go to the limits of your longing…and jump in the clear blue waters…know it by its taste and how the flavors dance upon your skin. Let everything happen to you… let those moments swim in you and around you as life markers on the trail…into the undergrowth and up the trees for that sky view to remind you of progress.

Stone Couch 2023

Rock solid. Weaving templates in the stream. I am a bed of potential, a sea of unfurling art. My memory banks whisper in the surf. Woven pockets rubbed into the sandstone. I am my own becoming. Birthed from great volcanos…I sift through the tides of time. Tumbling down rivers, gripped in the claws of great eagles, I soar. Wide open and free. I move like a dance…..finding familiar patterns in the night sky. I breathe strong and solid, a landscape of forgiveness, with roots beckoning from deep tundra’s. Earth is my speaking language and mindfulness the verb. I am a rock-solid time traveler, sifting sand beneath your feet.

To go or not to go.  April 2020

To go or not to go. The front door. Outside. Inside. It matters not, unless you can’t decide. Waiting… for the right moment. The oracle of a doorway…. Opening for a question. The oracle of a doorway…opening for adventure. Pause…silent tense listening with all your senses… The energy stream is rolling by and all you have to do is step aboard. The conductor beckons, calling out “free tickets,” “free tickets,” get your free tickets… Crisp suit…steam vents puffing. All aboard the conductor asks. Yes! And you leap from the front door…a mad dash to the train, the stream, the adventure path. OMG the smells are gorgeous, the colors wonderful. A kaleidoscope of goodness streaming past your consciousness. Sunlight and shadows, breeze and stillness, even the bugs come along for a ride.

Can you feel it? Everything seems to ask. Can you feel it? The aliveness pumping through veins of everything. Vibrational breath of life. The crispness of everything, like lettuce in the crisper or a fresh carrot plucked from the garden. Alive. The rocks are humming…a real outdoor rock concert. Crowds of bumble bees zoom past, going for the best seats… Flower petals and leaflets, the softest swing and sway. Everything alive as trees tap their branches against the moon…keeping time to the music. Its everywhere, can you hear? The beat and the jive and the juice. Its all around us, keeping track, keeping the beat, the jive, the juice. Alive. (To Go or Not To Go: Inspired by the pandemic and a season or two of sheltering in place)

If you’re Afraid to Get Started. October 2018

If you’re afraid to get started….do it anyway. If a tree falls on your foot…eat clouds for breakfast and snack on leaves. If you find it hard to walk…ride a horse and dance through time. If you loose your way…find yourself. If you can’t find yourself…find a tree and rest until you do. If the trees stop talking…listen to the roots. If tomorrow time stands still…sleep in and dream. When you wake, remember the night rainbow and paint her stories in a book. If you can’t sleep, paint your toe nails and sing songs. If you’re tired of asking questions…answer them. If the questions stop breathing…listen to the song in your heart and follow that wisdom instead. If you want to stop…stop. If you find yourself sad…pick wild flowers and sing to the moon. (Inspired by the children’s book “If you’re Afraid of the Dark” 1979. Cooper Edens)
